I’ve thought of applying for a Davis Projects for Peace grant in Ciudad Juarez to give kids more after school options to help steer them away from becoming gang members. I’d like to get access to an old warehouse and a bus - that way I can pick kids up from school, and give them a place to play futsal/soccer while they wait for their parents to pick them up. Thoughts?
Federal forces sully Mexico’s war on drugs
Ciudad Juarez is a city wrecked by Mexico’s drug violence. Although official figures vary, the city this month likely surpassed 10,000 homicides in the past four years. That’s more than Afghanistan’s civilian casualties in the same period and more than double the number of U.S. troops killed in the entire Iraq war.
